Grande Honeymoon Destination

Boca Grande is one of Florida’s most beautiful Gulf Coast Barrier Islands. It is a
small, residential community on Gasparilla Island in Southwest Florida. It is mostly an island of leisure with many vacation homes and condominiums and cottages, therefore there are many beachfront or main street properties that are available for rent throughout the year. There you will find quiet sophistication and luxury blended with the some small town community charm of Old Florida. You will find a beautiful natural environment throughout the entire island. The beaches of white sand and clear blue and green waters make this a spectacular spot for romantic strolls and along the shore, sunsets, sea shelling, dolphin watching, snorkeling, swimming or just relaxing in the sun, as well a small town to enjoy bike riding, fishing, golfing, fine dining, and shopping.
There are a few other romantic things to do. One of the prettiest places to stroll is Banyan street. It is 20 degrees cooler underneath a spectacular canopy of 100 year old Banyans trees. There is also the Boca Grande Lighthouse and museum that has been in operation since December of 1890, several art galleries and a few spas to get pampered in. In the gift shops and boutiques you can find anything you need and there is a great selection of antiques and jewelry also in the quaint shops.

If golfing is on the agenda, ironically Boca Grande is a place where golf carts are the main mode of transportation. On any given day you will see golf carts making their way not only on the course but on the streets headed downtown and parked along the streets, not to mention the Boca Grande Resort which has 18 holes on 6,941 yards with a par of 72.

If your idea of a destination wedding, perfect honeymoon or romantic getaway is to surround yourself with beautiful turquoise and aqua waters with charming old fashioned streets and little shops and the feeling like you own your own little town and beach, check out Boca Grande, FL.

3 Day Diet

Ok so it's time for my latest installment of BRIDAL BODY, with my favorite diet for the month of June. Right on the cusp of the summer, and you want to lose some weight fast.... this one is really good for that. It's the 3 day diet... and it's a little extreme, but really not so bad. But sometimes you need a "quick and dirty" plan either to jump start your program, or just to get that zipper up the last inch or two. It's only 3 days.... so who can't hold out for just 3 days? I usually lose 5-6 lbs on it. Good luck!

Day 1
Breakfast:
Black coffee or tea
1/2 grapefruit
1 slice toast with 1 tbs peanut butter
Lunch:
1/2 cup dry tuna
1 slice toast
black coffee or tea
Dinner:
3 oz any lean meat
1 cup green beans
1 cup carrots
1 apple
1 cup regular vanilla ice cream (YES! - this is NOT a mistake - enjoy the full cup tonight - the amount gets smaller tomorrow)

Day 2
Breakfast:
black coffee or tea
1 egg
1 slice toast
1/2 banana
Lunch:
1 cup cottage cheese or dry tuna
8 regular saltine crackers (only 8)
black coffee or tea
Dinner:
2 beef franks
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 banana
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream

Day 3

1 oz. cheddar cheese
1 apple

Vintage Wedding

I am working with a client that would like original artwork for her hand painted wedding aisle runner. She told me that she wants a vintage design, and I am so excited to work on a project like this. I love the vintage look but have not done too many designs like this. How exciting to do something different! I turned to my trusty laptop to check out some photos for inspiration before doing drawings for my client. Here are just a few of the photos that particularly caught my eye. Enjoy!

Sausage Stars

I just made these this past weekend for my husband, and he still LOVES them. I PROMISE that these little gems will make him ask for them by name over and over again.
They are also great for entertaining (quick and easy for a bridal lunch or rehearsal dinner), and will make you everyone's favorite hostess. You have GOT to try them!

Sausage Stars

1 pound cooked crumbled sausage
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup prepared Hidden Valley Ranch dressing (use Hidden Valley Ranch brand)
1 (2.25 oz) can sliced black olives
1/2 cup chopped red pepper
1 package wonton wrappers (usually in your grocer's produce section)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blot sausage dry with paper towel and combine with cheeses, salad dressing, olives and red pepper. Lightly grease a mini muffin tin and press 1 wrapper in each cup. Brush with oil. Bake 5 minutes until golden. Remove from tins, place on baking sheet. Fill with sausage mixture. Bake 5 minutes until bubbly.

Please let me know how you liked them!

Flower of the Month - June - Rose

Everybody knows what a rose looks & smells like, so you don’t need me to tell you about its sweet perfume, multiple layers of petals, thorny stems, and blooms that range in size from 2”-5”. Its botanical name is “rosa”, and also goes by the names, Sweetheart Rose, Tea Rose, and Miniature Rose. There are several varieties of roses which are just another reason why they make the perfect choice for weddings. The rose in general, is a symbol of love, but there are also sub-meanings by color:
Red: love & respect
Pink: Grace
Dark Pink: Gratitude
Lt Pink: Admiration
White: Innocence
Yellow: Undying love
Orange: Desire
Blue: Extraordinary; mysterious

So chances are, you have selected roses to be used somewhere in your wedding. What type are they? Tea roses? Pink ones? Red ones? Wouldn't it be beautiful to have your same pink and white roses from your bouquet painted by hand onto your aisle runner? What an entrance! And wouldn't it be a beautiful touch to paint the design also on paper cones that hang from the chairs that flank the aisle? Breathtaking! Contact us to get started designing your perfect aisle!

Eye Candy - PEARL

Here is some eye candy in honor of the pearl... the stone of the month for June.
Its traditional look and iridescent surface make it a perfect choice for weddings.
Hmmm..... how about a pearl encrusted aisle runner? (very small pearls, of course). Imagine the possibilities! Contact us to get started
