Aisle Runner Advertising Campaign

We have really been trying our hardest to get ourselves "out there" (Although my husband says that I have been "out there" for years - ha!) I really do feel that you can make a huge difference in the look of your wedding with a beautiful aisle runner. It is the background for the first time that your guests see YOU when you appear at your wedding. And I think that it's really a very important detail. So we have kicked things off with a beautiful ad on a very popular wedding website, and we are so pleased with the result, that we wanted to share it with you. Please click on the link to take a look at our ad:Hand Painted Aisle Runners by Starry Night Design Studio.

Let us know what you think!

The LI Weddings site has really been great so far and we have met a lot of wonderful people - brides and professionals alike! Welcome to the Garden!

We have been having some absolutely wonderful weather lately - perfect even - and I spent some time in the garden the other day. The flowers were all in bloom and everything looked so pretty that I snapped a few photos. I also made some lovely bouquets for my fence.

I had a narrow glass vase that I wired to the fence, and I had a couple of baby food jars that I also wired on there. They make great vases too!

Introducing...... STYLISH AISLES

We are pleased to introduce our new collection at the studio, Stylish Aisles.
We use the same fabric runners that are available in the Grand Entrances Collection, and all of the work is still done by hand. But, in this collection, the original artwork is smaller, or the large artwork is done with stencils. This way we can keep the price down, but still offer you a beautiful design.
In this economy, we know that everyone is on a budget, but you still want beautiful details that make your wedding unforgettable. We have many ideas for aisle runners, and unique wedding accessories that make a BIG impact, while still keeping within your budget.
Here are some photos of our new collection:

Words for Dad

While spending some time in blogland this evening, I found a wonderful post that I wanted to share. The original post is at www.abitofhappy.com from June 21, and I want to thank Christy for finding it at Indianchild.com:

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad
-Author Unknown

It's a beautiful poem and I thought it would be a great idea to frame it and present it to your dad as a thank you gift. A calligrapher could do it in beautiful writing to make it even more special. Or you could have it printed and add artwork to it (contact me at stephanie@starrynightdesignstudio.com and we can certainly do this). Perhaps you could just read it at your wedding, or you might even be able to have a band put it to music and you could dance to it with your father at the reception.
Any way that you like best, I think it is a wonderful tribute to your dad.

Flower of the Month - July - Water Lily

Wow is it July already? I can’t believe it – time really flies. And I bet all of you that are planning your wedding are really feeling it fly by too!
Well July’s flower of the month is the water lily… and NO – these are not just for frogs! I know that they are often overlooked in floral arrangements, but I think they have just gotten a bad rap! Have you really looked closely at them? They have lots of beautiful petals and come in quite a few colors. You can find them in blue, lavender, red, white, pink, purple so they match just about anything, and they are available year round. The blooms are usually 8 to 20” long, and they really look pretty popping out from a lot of greenery. The flower’s meaning is, flight of fancy, ardent attachment, agility.
And get this, extracts of this plant are sometimes used in herbal medicine. And juices of this flower can be used to create a blue ink… sounds like items you'll need for your wedding day emergency kit!
Perhaps you prefer more traditional flowers for your bouquets and wedding arrangements, but if you are having your wedding near a pool or a body of water, these really make quite a statement floating around.
